Central to the religious life of the school is the person of Jesus Christ who came among us ‘as one who serves’ (Luke 22.27). Our Catholic school is committed to reaching out to help those in need, through charitable outreach initiatives. All outreach activities connect to the person of Jesus Christ and to the sacraments, especially the Eucharist. Drawing on the Catholic Social Teaching of the Church, we have a deep commitment to supporting a range of charitable organisations, families and individuals in need.
The college has a comprehensive community outreach program to provide opportunities for our students to develop a sense of others in their journey to be the best men they can be. Key Catholic charities that all students and staff in the college participate and contribute to include Caritas Project Compassion and St Vincent de Paul Winter and Christmas Appeals.
The college also provides a number of outreach opportunities within the Lasallian family with significant experiences of immersion offered to senior students in Lasallian communities in Sri Lanka and Papua New Guinea as well as fundraising opportunities in ‘twin schools’ in Pakistan and Papua New Guinea.
Through the Duke of Edinburgh and leadership programs, students provide outreach into the local community in nursing homes and in support of local community groups.
These opportunities help to form in our students a strong sense of community engagement and concern for those who are less fortunate than others.
